Atmosphere and authenticity are the main priorities here, sometimes inscrutable horror story that knows when to be ambiguous, and when to deliver a frank parcel of straightforward terror.

I know because I just re-watched it. I don't make these things up.

Bonus points for the ending, which isn't exactly a twist, but it does manage to leave the viewer feeling slightly gut-punched.
