There was once a wise old woman who lived back in the hills. All the children used to come back and ask her questions. She always gave the right answers.
There was a naughty little boy among the children. One day he caught a tiny bird and held it in his cupped hands. Then he gathered his friends around. He said, “Let’s trick the old woman. I’ll ask her what I’m holding in my hands. Of course, she’ll answer that I have a bird. Then I will ask her if the bird is living or dead. If she says the bird is dead, I’ll open my hands and let the bird fly away. If she says the bird is alive, I’ll quickly crush it and show her the dead bird. Either way, she’ll be wrong.”
The children agreed that this was a clever plan. Up the hill they went to the old woman’s hut.
“Granny, we have a question for you,” they all shouted.
“What’s in my hands?” asked the little boy.
“Well, it must be a bird,” replied the old woman.
“But is it living or dead?” demanded the excited boy.
The old woman thought for a moment and then replied, “It is as you will, my child.”

GETTING THIRSTY ON SEEING WATER
Once there was a fellow desperately in need of water for his thirst. On seeing the blazing fog, he mistook it for water. He pursued it until he reached the Indus River. But he only looked at it without drinking. A bystander asked, "You are suffering from thirst. How that you have found water, why don't you drink it?"
The fellow answered, "If I could drink up all that water, I would do it. Since there is more water than I can finish, I would rather not drink it at all."
As soon as people heard this, they laughed aloud at him. The heretics, acting against all senses and reasons, think since they are unable to keep all the Bu英語寓言故事對話故事hist commandments, they refuse to accept any of them. They will never attain the path of Enlightenment and thus subject to transmigration in time to come. They are just like that stupid thirsty fellow who gets laughed at by his contemporaries.
A Man and a Satyr having struck up an acquaintance, sat down together to eat. The day being wintry and cold, the Man put his fingers to his mouse and blew opon them. "What's that for, my friend?" asked the Satyr. " My hands are so cold," said the Man, "I do it to warm them." In a little while some hot food was placed before them, and the Man, raising the dish to his mouse, again blew opon it. "And what's the meaning of that, now?" said the Satyr. "Oh," replied the Man, "my porridge is so hot, I do it to cool it." "Nay, then," said the Satyr, "from this moment I renounce your friendship, for I will have nothing to do with one who blows hot and cold with the same mouse."
