　　Premier Li Keqiang introduced the concept of the "spirit of the craftsman" during his government work report during the fourth session of the 12th National People's Congress.

　　在第十二屆全國人民代表大會第四次會議上，**總理將"工匠精神"這一概念納入了政府工作報告。 國務(wù)院總理**在今年的政府工作報告中明確指出，要"鼓勵企業(yè)開展個性化定制、柔性化生產(chǎn)(encourage enterprises to use custom-tailored and flexible production processes)，培育精益求精的工匠精神(foster a craftsmanship spirit of striving for the best)，增品種、提品質(zhì)、創(chuàng)品牌(more types of products, products of a higher quality, and brand products will be made)"。

　　工匠(craftsman)曾是傳統(tǒng)社會日常生活中不可或缺的職業(yè)，他們以精湛的技藝(exquisite craftsmanship)打造完美的產(chǎn)品。如今工匠雖已淡出現(xiàn)代人的生活，但他們代表的精益求精、不斷創(chuàng)新(be dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation)的精神卻永不過時。

　　Recently, our manufacturing industry is big but not strong and it is weak in independent innovation. To carry forward the spirit of the craftsman will drive China from a manufacturer of quantity to a manufacturer of quality.

　　目前，我國制造業(yè)大而不強(our manufacturing industry is big but not strong)、自主創(chuàng)新能力較弱(weak in independent innovation)。弘揚(carry forward)"工匠精神"將帶動中國從"制造大國"走向"制造強國"(drive China from a manufacturer of quantity to a manufacturer of quality)，促進企業(yè)改善產(chǎn)品和服務(wù)質(zhì)量(urge companies to improve the quality of goods and services)。

　　We will move faster to bring domestic quality and safety standards in line with international standards, and establish a system for making products pay punitive compensation for failing to meet product quality standards. We will also encourage enterprise to use flexible and custom-tailored production processes and foster a craftsmanship spirit of striving for the best, so that more types of products, products of a higher quality , and brand products will be made.
