Directions:
How can we meet the needs of today without diminishing the capacity of future generations to meet theirs? Sustainable development implies a broad view
of human welfare, a long term perspective about social development. Write an essay which should cover:
1) describing the set of drawings below,
2) stating its main idea, and
3) giving your comment.
The images above are both meaningful and instructive: this mans hard work is not only for his own benefit, but also for the benefit of future generations.
The pictures serve to remind us that the existence of our current happiness and valuable national heritage is due to the struggles of our predecessors.
We, in turn, should also work hard in order to guarantee the comfort and safety of generations to come. Sustainable development has become a topic of heated debate in recent years. While it is justifiable to satisfy current demands, we cannot neglect the needs of our descendants in the process. Our children also depend on Earths natural resources and we should not deprive them of such necessities.
Unfortunately, many people only think of their short term, personal interests. An entire forest might be clear cut, in the interest of making a profit, without a single tree planted in its place. This inconsiderate attitude towards the welfare of our descendants, as well the indifference to the outcome of such reckless actions, can only turn Earth into a cold and lifeless planet. People must be taught to appreciate Earth as not only their home, but also the home of our children and grandchildren, as well as all other plants and animals.
Being a product of high-technology,mobile phones are being more and more widely used. It's small in size, light in weight and easy to carry, offering fast and convenient service for communication. It's of multi-function. The users use it for calling, sending short messages and internet-surfing.
In recent years, mobile phones have become popular among middle school students. Quite a few use them at school to keep in touch with their families and friends instead of writing letters, which, of course brings convenience to them. But I don't think it's good to do so.
In spite of the advantage mentioned above, student users often waste a lot of time chatting over the phone in their spare time, some even use them to cheat in exams. In addition, mobile phone bill is also a heavy burden on students' families.

As is shown in the two pictures, the same flower has different fate when put in different situations. When there is protection, the flower blooms beautifully. However, when exposed directly to rain and storm, the flower quickly withers. We can safely come to the conclusion that greenhouse flowers cannot withstand rain and storm.
The same is true with our children. As the one-child policy is adopted in China, more and more parents overprotect their children. With everything done for them and every need satisfied by their parents or grandparents, these only children seem to be healthy, happy and high-spirited. But when they leave home, they become disappointed and frustrated. Facing harsh things they have never experienced before, such as competition from peers, criticism from supervisors, pressure for deadlines and restriction for discipline, they will be at a loss, miserable or even desperate. In fact, the more protection they get from their parents, the less ability they acquire. Parents love for their children turns out to be a disaster.
Children, like flowers, should be treated with care, but reasonable and sensible ways of doing things will help to bring about more fruitful results, if we not only love our children but also teach them how to love, our love will be passed down from generation to generation; if we not only solve problems for our children but also encourage them to solve problems, our diligence and ingenuity will make our life more meaningful and worthwhile.

In china, with the enforcement of the birth control policy, most parents have only one child. The parents and grandparents have shown too much love to their only child; the number of spoiled children has increased in China. Consequently(必然地), how to bring up the child becomes a serious problem to many young parents.
The only child has shown complete dependence on the parents. Many five to seven-year-olds still hang on their patents in almost every aspect of life, from buttoning cloths to going to the toilet. These children have never learnt to do elementary household chores(家庭雜務(wù)). Even worse, the only children tend to be ill mannered and self-centered. They often fight over something instead of cooperating together. Parents give them calculators, turn on the television and leave the teaching to teachers. Some parents even offer material incentives(鼓勵(lì))to reluctant(不情愿的)children to lure(引誘)them to learn and to do something. They are a generation of kids who have never been hurt or hungry. They have learned somebody will always do things for them.
The key to solving the problem of spoiled(被寵壞的)children lies in correctly educating both children and adult. In my opinion, hard life is good for children. Parents should be used to saying no to the kid, and let a child do hard work. Working hard will give him an opportunity to taste the bitterness quickly. Besides, hard work may enable him to cherish the fruit of the others’ labor.
Human society is full of tests and trials. Flowers from a greenhouse can never withstand a storm. Children who live luxuriously(奢侈地)and comfortably can never become somebody in the future. Besides, to reduce the chance of spoiled children, parents and society must work together. Meanwhile, both primary and nursery school should step up their efforts in training children.
people who live with disabilities are always considered shameful, for it was difficult for them to manage to do the daily affairs that we take for granted. in fact, they have no differences from us expect their disabilities which are formed because of inborn deficiency or unfortunate accidents. luckily, now we find that there is much we can do to help them, such as improving the living conditions of them.
but one day when i got to a high-grade hotel, i realized that there was still much left for us to do to provide the equal access to the disabled. as soon as i got through the door of the hotel, i found it almost impossible for the lame or the blind to enter. the glass door would keep revolving unless someone stopped it. people in wheelchairs were hardly able to stop the door and it seemed that the width of the door was not as wide as that of the wheelchair. on the other hand, the revolving door was likely to hit the arms or heads of the blind when they tried to get through. the service counter was too high for the people in wheelchairs to reach. if they wanted to seek counsel of checking in or get publicity materials, they could hardly be served as normal people.
the counter as well as the phones was in so high a position that it couldn’t be reached by people in wheelchairs. except these, the stairs were one of the inconvenient facilities for the disabled. there were no elevators or even plain passages for the lame, so that they were unable to get to another floor unless others offered help.
every member of society has the right to a reasonable quality of life, including the disabled. as society develops, we have the responsibility to offer equal access. only in this way are the disabled able to live productive and meaningful lives as we do.
