福特考慮抵押汽車(chē)制造廠英語(yǔ)美文

Ford Motor is considering offering its car plants as security to lenders as part of a drive by the troubled Detroit-based carmaker to bolster cash reserves in the face of massive losses.

“Clearly, liquidity is a high priority for us”, Alan Mulally, chief executive, said yesterday after Ford reported a third quarter loss of $5.8bn. This brings Ford’s losses this year to $7.2bn and the company warned that operating losses for the fourth quarter were likely to take the total for the year close to $8.5bn.

The latest loss includes a $1.6bn pre-tax impairment charge for the troubled UK-based Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Mr Mulally said he was still reviewing whether the two marques should be sold. A similar writedown of $2.2bn has been applied to North American operations.

“These results are unacceptable”, said Mr Mulally, who joined Ford last month after a career at Boeing. “We are committed to dealing decisively with the fundamental business reality that customer demand is shifting to smaller, more efficient vehicles.”

Ford also disclosed it would restate results from 2001 to the second quarter of this year to correct accounting for certain hedging transactions. These corrections are not reflected in the results announced yesterday.
穆拉利表示,福特計(jì)劃“進(jìn)行積極重組,通過(guò)降低產(chǎn)量實(shí)現(xiàn)盈利運(yùn)營(yíng),同時(shí)加速開(kāi)發(fā)客戶真正想要的高效率新車(chē)型!
Mr Mulally said Ford planned “to restructure aggressively to operate profitably at lower volumes and to accelerate the development of new, more efficient vehicles customers really want”.
福特汽車(chē)第三季度的持續(xù)經(jīng)營(yíng)項(xiàng)目虧損為12億美元,合每股虧損62美分;上年同期的虧損額為1.91億美元,合每股虧損10美分。福特警告稱(chēng),第四季度的運(yùn)營(yíng)虧損可能更高。
The loss from continuing operations was $1.2bn, or 62 cents a share, up from $191m, or 10 cents, in the third quarter of 2005. Ford warned that the fourth quarter operating loss was likely to be higher.
福特首席財(cái)務(wù)官唐?勒克萊爾(Don Leclair)表示,隨著福特業(yè)務(wù)重組工作的進(jìn)行,未來(lái)數(shù)年可能進(jìn)一步出現(xiàn)大量現(xiàn)金流出的情況。
Don Leclair, chief financial officer, said further large cash outflows were likely over the next few years as Ford restructured operations.
