　　Youth means a temperamentalpredominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over thelove of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobodygrows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

　　Yearsmay wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear,self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

　　Whether 60 or 16, there is inevery human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing appetite for what’snext and the joy of the game of living. 　　多年已過，我仍然懷念。

　　從一大早就下起雨來。下雨，本來不是什么稀罕事兒，但這是春雨，俗話說：“春雨貴似油�！倍�且又在罕見的大旱之中，其珍貴就可想而知了。

　　“潤物細(xì)無聲”，春雨本來是聲音極小極小的，小到了“無”的程度。但是，我現(xiàn)在坐在隔成了一間小房子的陽臺(tái)上，頂上有塊大鐵皮。樓上滴下來的檐溜就打在這鐵皮上，打出聲音來，于是就不“細(xì)無聲”了。按常理說，我坐在那里，同一種死文字拼命，本來應(yīng)該需要極靜極靜的.環(huán)境，極靜極靜的心情，才能安下心來，進(jìn)入角色，來解讀這天書般的玩意兒。這種雨敲鐵皮的聲音應(yīng)該是極為討厭的，是必欲去之而后快的。

　　然而，事實(shí)卻正相反。我靜靜地坐在那里，聽到頭頂上的雨滴聲，此時(shí)有聲勝無聲，我心里感到無量的喜悅，仿佛飲了仙露，吸了醍醐，大有飄飄欲仙之概了。這聲音時(shí)慢時(shí)急，時(shí)高時(shí)低，時(shí)響時(shí)沉，時(shí)斷時(shí)續(xù)，有時(shí)如金聲玉振，有時(shí)如黃鐘大呂，有時(shí)如大珠小珠落玉盤，有時(shí)如紅珊白瑚沉海里，有時(shí)如彈素琴，有時(shí)如舞霹靂，有時(shí)如百鳥爭鳴，有時(shí)如兔落鶻起，我浮想聯(lián)翩，不能自已，心花怒放，風(fēng)生筆底。死文字仿佛活了起來，我也仿佛又溢滿了青春活力。我平生很少有這樣的精神境界，更難為外人道也。

In the first place, the patriotic education can make youth more aware of the glorious history and culture of our nation, thus building up their sense of pride as Chinese. In the second, the patriotic education helps youth value today's hard-earned life so as to hold dearer their golden chances of enriching themselves with knowledge in peace. And above all, the patriotic education can push youth to draw upon more of their capabilities in order to make tomorrow's life better than today's and leave behind themselves more highlights for the nation's culture. To sum up, patriotic education is a key ingredient in the all-round development of youth.

　　So the most pressing for us now is how to effectively inculcate patriotism in the youth of today. In my opinion, the first step should be focused upon giving fuller play to the potentials of patriotic education centers instead of running them for the purpose of making money. Then, greater efforts must be made to integrate the patriotic education into the curriculums throughout youth's education. In one word, where there is an effective patriotic education of youth, there is a greater enhancement of national cohesiveness.

　　It is the duty of every citizen to make the country rich and powerful (To make the country rich and strong is...). In order to accomplish this object one must be patriotic (love his country). I consider this an unchangeable truth. How can a student love his country (be patriotic)? I find my answer very simple and clear. While they can be considered to be more fortunate than most, most who do not fall into that category are not as bad off as they tend to believe. Instead, they are simply lacking something, or making mistakes, which are standing in the way of their lives being as fulfilling as they would prefer. Some even go as far as to not realize the immense potential they possess.

　　What is the main difference between those lucky individuals whose lives seem to be wonderfully on-track and those who, often despite every step of trying on their part, appear to have all of the odds stacked against them? While in some cases it is a matter of some people having better luck than others, those whose lives are content in the moment and proceeding in the direction of their choice, do not live in the past.

　　Whether you are thinking about your personality or your life in general, success means focusing on the here-and-now. While it is important to acknowledge the choices and experiences which resulted in you being where you are today, it is equally important to not allow yourself to become so caught up in thoughts of the past that the present day passes you by.

　　Self-motivation is the key to ensuring that you do not continue repeating the same mistakes. You may have had one or more errors in judgment which led you to take the wrong path, or to make mistakes that were not in your best interest. You can acknowledge this without rehashing them over and over again in your mind, and simply be determined to make different, better decisions today.
